 Back to School

In some ways summer felt really long but in other ways it felt like it came and went so quickly. We packed a lot into our time together before school started. Now school has started back up we are packing our time with after school activities and homework .

Brayden is a junior this year. He still loves playing his saxophone in bother symphonic band and marching band. He was not thrilled to be wearing masks every day. There have been many days of school closures and class cancelations because of exposure to covid and positive test results for his friends and classmates. He is looking forward to driving to school and not having to be on the bus anymore especially having his 0 hour class. He is working for the school district in the child nutrition department so he gets paid to serve the students during lunch something he has been doing through his high school years.

Kaytlin is a 7th grader this year. She is at a new school with a lot more kids. She rides the bus each day and is glad to have friends that ride too. She is enjoying the flute in band and her cooking/sewing classes. She hasn't minded wearing a mask and just goes with the flow. On a few days a week she goes from school to gymnastics to Young Women's without much time at home. She never stops flipping, doing cartwheels, and back bends. She has been a great friend and helper to others by teaching them how to use their locker locks and finding their classes. We prepared her well so she could be a help to others.

Alayna is a 5th grader this year. She has the same teacher and same classroom that she had last year. Without her siblings in her school with her she has transitioned amazingly well. She has many good friends in her class and plays with them at recess. She has become more independent this year by walking home after school. She has enjoyed routine and making new friends. She has not been a fan of wearing masks. The first few weeks of school were rough with rashes from her masks and irritation from the mask rubbing but I think we got through the worst of it.

The girls walk to school/work together everyday. Brenda is working in the office at Alayna's school. Alayna grabs breakfast at school, Kaytlin grabs the bus from the elementary school and Brenda gets to work.

It is going to be a great year full of changes and adjustments but we are doing great!
Here is to a fantastic 2020-2021 school year!
