Logan or Bust!

Many months ago we made arrangements to attend the Martin Harris Pageant in Clarkston, Utah. As we were preparing to get away for the weekend we found out friends of ours were in Salt Lake from Texas so we changed plans a bit.

Friday we left our house before 7 a.m. and drove to Salt Lake to spend the afternoon with the Baker Family who were visiting from Texas. We walked around Temple Square and the City Creek Mall!
All the fountains kept the kids entertained!
I always love the flowers in bloom and all the colors!

We had lunch at the Nauvoo Café. Yum! The Family History room looked fun so we decided to have our picture taken and play a little!

Playing at the Disney store at the City Creek Mall!
We took a few minutes and stopped in to visit the Richardson Family. Their daughter Alena just got her mission call to serve in the Auckland New Zealand Mission this week! We are so excited for her!
When we left their place the kids were tired and were falling asleep in the car so we decided we would head on up to Logan. On our way to Logan the battery warning light on our dash came on so we decided we would get it checked when we got into Logan after we found our campground. We drove on by the campground and came to a light and the van died! We let it roll back down the small hill we were on and parked it on the side of the road. Well I decided we needed a phone book because we couldn't get a WiFi signal on the tablet so we could make some calls to find someone to help us. I went up to the house on the corner where we broke down and there was a phonebook on the porch. The people weren't home so we thought it was a small blessing. We were calling a few places and they were all closed for the weekend when a guy pulled up to help us. One of the places we called had a cell phone number on his answering machine so we called and arranged an appointment to fix the van the next day. The guy who helped us (David) did not have a tow rope so he ran up to Walmart and bought one so he could tow us to the mechanics. He got back and hooked us up with a tow. As we were being towed I called several rental car places to see if there was something we could use in the meantime. Nothing was available unless we wanted to go to Ogden to pick up. Obviously that wouldn't work! Josh called his mom and asked if she knew anyone that lived in Logan that could help us. She told him that he had several cousins in the area but none of their numbers were listed in the phone book so we had to make a few more calls to get those and then called them. His one cousin had a truck we could borrow that he had just bought a few weeks prior to this. David then offered to load up our stuff in his truck so we could get to the campground and get camp set up before it got much later. By this point it was well after 8 in the evening. I got the tent up just before it got dark and then I went about getting something for dinner. We were hungry, cranky and tired! Josh's cousin brought us the truck and Josh then took him back to his house. I was sitting in the dark, feeding the kids, in a strange place when a man approached us and mentioned that Josh had talked to him by the bathrooms before he left and that this man noticed we were sitting in the dark and offered us a lantern. When Josh got back to camp we were able to go get a few more things out of the van we thought we would need and then we got to bed!

On Saturday while we waited for our van to get fixed ( the alternator went out) we found a park to play, had huge ice cream cones, and checked out the Logan Temple!

We got our van back and took the truck back to his cousins! We then got ready to head to Clarkston for the Martin Harris Pageant.

Sunday we headed back home with a stop in Pocatello to see Grandparents graves.

We are so thankful for our many blessings! We are certainly thankful for all those who helped us in Utah! (David our helper, John the mechanic, Scott and Ryan some of Josh's cousins and Dwight the guy at the campground). When amazing things like this happen to us I am constantly aware how the Lord puts others in our paths to help us! I know that Fear and Faith can't exist together. I know if we rely on our Heavenly Father through the tough times everything will work out how it should... maybe not the way we pictured or wanted but how it should be! I am thankful for my Heavenly Father who is constantly aware of us!
